Our Visit to Young England Kindergarten
A wonderful school community in London...
We had the pleasure to visit Young England Kindergarten the other day.
The family owned nursery, located in St George Square, has been in operation in the church hall of St Saviours since the early 1960s.
Young England is an inclusive nursery, they are set in an open plan hall with 3 class groups. There are 2 smaller classrooms used for smaller group sessions, speech and language therapy, sensory rooms, and a calm warm-up space in the morning for those who need a slower start to the day.
Outdoor time is important to the ethos of the school, with an hour to an hour and a half spent on St George’s Square daily.
Physical, wellness, and early learning skills are all of upmost importance at Young England Kindergarten, the well rounded approach leads to happy children who are able to self-regulate.
Extracurricular activities from outside providers happen daily in a part of the hall. When I was there a ballet class was taking part, with the dancers squealing in delight. From January, the children will be taking street dance, with a hope to entice more lovers of dance.
New starters begin the term after their second birthday, with new groups starting in September and January. Most children attend the school for 2 years, until reception entrance.
Intake is usually wrapped up about a year before the child starts at the nursery, it is on a first come first served basis. Many parents sign up at birth or at least in the first 6 months. There are no entry assessments, the location is assessable for wheelchairs.
They pride themselves on an inclusive learning environment, with a history of children with speech delays, and learning delays.
The nursery is a warm, welcoming environment with outstanding results in early years education. It is well worth a visit , if you are thinking about nursery schools for your baby or toddler.
