Our visit to Leith Hill School in Surrey
A new specialist learning environment, part of the Cavendish Group of Schools
Yesterday we met a wonderful new Specialist school, Leith Hill, due to open in September, the latest of the Cavendish Schools Group.
On the site of the former Belmont School, we had a look round new classrooms, theatre space and labs that from September will be an SEN learning home to children from 7 years old upwards.
With class sizes of around 8 pupils, Leith Hall promotes learning through the Cavendish Principles of the “Four C’s”:
Confidence
Competence
Creativity
Character
Classrooms open out onto outdoor space so that lessons can be integrated with movement breaks, physical activity and forest school. While some renovations are ongoing, we were nonetheless able to use our imaginations to picture just what an inspiring environment this will be for the children, with calm rooms, libraries and sporting facilities that include an outdoor pool, astroturf hockey pitch and 40 acres of rolling grounds.
As well educational outcomes, Leith Hill uses specialist therapeutic support and outside-of-the-classroom learning to prepare pupils for life after school:

Cognitively able pupils with Autism and/or ADHD
Speech, Language and Communication needs
Sensory processing disorders
Have some gaps in learning
Admissions information:
On opening the school will accept Pupils 7-14 (Y3-9)
Admissions for Y10-11 available form 2026-27 and 2027-28 respectively
Overall, Leith Hill aims to be a safe and welcoming environment for children, and is built on values familiar to other Cavendish School Group families, summed up really well in their motto “Not all great minds think alike”
