Moon Hall EdTech Day, Part Two - Executive Function Tools

Boost Education is a software company who has several programmes to support children and adults with executive functioning challenges.
Boost the app helps people prioritise tasks that need to be completed. This is mainly used by university students, but there is scope for GCSE and A level pupils.
As organisation and prioritisation are often issues for those with executive functioning challenges, this system, helps the students to tick things off their list that are more important. It also has links to useful support for school work as well as mental health support.
The main focus of the demonstration was Luna app. This webbed app helps to create easy-to-use flashcards, spaced repetition, test yourself activities, and active recall, which are some of the most effective ways to learn and retain information.
Many students end up re-reading and not actually retaining information, whereas if they use spaced repetition, test yourself, and active recall methods they are more likely to learn subject matter.
The app works by the student uploading coursework that they need to know for the test. The ai app then creates flashcards for students to test themselves.
The app asks for information about when the assessment will take place, and will then create a schedule for study using input such as the times of day the person has to (or prefers to) study.
During the study session the student rates each card as a 1, 2, or 3 on how secure they feel they know that bit of information. This is then used to calculate how often the same information is re-tested.
I sat in on this session wishing something like this was around when I was in high school and college. It is such an easy and effective tool.
I would suggest checking out Luna and Boost for those with upcoming exams, with or without executive functioning difficulties. It is very reasonably priced as well at about £30 a year.
