Firefly Education at the UK-Saudi SEN Conference

As part of our work within the Middle East and new partnership-building in the region, it was a pleasure to meet officials from the Saudi Ministries of Education and Health as part of the UK-Saudi SEN Schools Workshop. We look forward to working with more clients in the Kingdom and to expanding our relationships with schools and other organisations.

It was interesting to hear about provision for SEND in the Kingdom, as well as their plans for expanding and improving access to specialist teaching and therapy. Firefly Education London has worked with clients in Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait and look forward to being a part of the vision to improve the quality of SEND education in the region.

Currently, most SEN pupils are helped through the Ministry of Education within "mainstream" schools, with specialist tuition and therapy provided alongside and within their classes, not too dissimilarly to the model followed in many state and prep schools in the UK. There is a growing need for specialist staff, and with the country changing rapidly, the Saudi delegation welcome teachers from the UK and encourage visits to the kingdom to experience the country for real before making a decision.

We're already looking forward to joining the Department for Business and Trade's delegation and visit to the UAE in November 2025, and hope to visit Saudi Arabia next year too, as we're sure there are many examples where our network and expertise can help children and families.
